Champlain Islands • North Hero, Vermont

Island Storage.
Indoor boat & vehicle storage on Lake Champlain.

Five purpose-built steel buildings at 219 Station Road in North Hero. Winter boat storage, summer trailer storage, and heated contractor bays — minutes from the drawbridge and a short tow from any Islands marina.

The Facility

Five buildings. One quiet site. Easy lake access.

219 Station Road sits on the quiet east side of North Hero, a short tow from Ladd's Landing, North Hero Marina, and the North Hero drawbridge. The site has served the Islands for decades and was acquired by Green Mountain Marine Services in 2024.

Our buildings are purpose-built for boat and equipment storage — wide doors, generous aisles, and gravel floors that stay cool and dry through the winter. A heated, slab-floor shop is available for contractor tenants who need year-round space.

  • Locked, fenced access during storage season
  • Professional haul-in and haul-out on scheduled days
  • Summer trailer parking for winter customers
  • Owned and operated by Green Mountain Marine Services, LLC

How It Works

Clean, predictable operations.

Drop-off days

Boats can be delivered to the facility any time, but are placed into storage on Mondays and Fridays. Special arrangements can usually be made when time permits.

Spring removal

Boats are pulled from storage on Tuesdays and Fridays. Other removal days are available for a $100 fee for our time.

Season & billing

The storage season runs through May 31, at which point a summer fee begins if your boat stays. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice; balances are delinquent after 30 days per Vermont storage-lien statutes.

Insurance

GMMS does not insure stored vessels, vehicles, or personal property. Owners are responsible for maintaining their own coverage. Full terms are on the storage agreement.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do you store sailboats or larger cruisers?

We regularly store boats over 30 feet. Because of building heights and door widths, anything over 30′ is priced and accepted by quote — call or email with your length, beam, and height on the trailer and we’ll confirm fit.

Is the facility heated?

Buildings A and B (our boat storage barns) are unheated. Our heated, slab-floor space is Building C1 and is used for contractor leasing. Unheated storage is industry standard for winter boat storage in Vermont — boats are winterized and shrink-wrapped or left uncovered inside.

Can I access my boat during the winter?

Occasional access is fine — please call ahead. Scheduled additional installs or removals beyond the normal spring-fall cycle are $50 per occurrence.

Do you winterize or shrink-wrap?

We focus on storage; winterization and shrink-wrap are available through our neighbors at Northland Boat Shop and Ladd’s Landing, or through your preferred mechanic. We’re happy to coordinate delivery directly from a service yard.
